Eighty-two percent of our first three Dreamer classes graduated from high school. Of these graduates, 86 percent went on to some level of post-secondary schooling. Many of them are now graduating from college or vocational school.
> Significant graduation rates. The children in our program graduate high school at much higher rates than their peers. Our first classes graduation rate was 66 percent as compared to their peers graduation rate of 35 percent.
> Improving success rates. The percentage of children graduating high school in each of our successive classes is steadily improving. In our first class 66 percent of children that finished the program graduated high school. In our second class 91 percent of children that finished the program graduated high school. In our third class, which graduated in 2007, 90 percent of children graduated from high school. > Positive growth. The number of low-income children that "I Have a Dream" serves has grown from 36 students in 1990 to 400.
> Volunteer Support. "I Have a Dream" currently trains and utilizes over 180 volunteer mentors and tutors to help low income children finish high school.
> 11 AmeriCorps members have been placed at the learning centers improving our child-to-staff ratio from 45:1, to 15:1, dramatically increasing our effectiveness.
> Boulder Housing Partners reports that crime and vandalism rates have been reduced by 50 percent in the neighborhoods where "I Have a Dream" is providing services.
> 98 percent of Dreamers stayed in school.
> 86 percent of Dreamers regularly participated (at least once a week or more) in the after-school program.
> 98 percent of Dreamers report that "I Have a Dream" has helped them get better grades.
> 82 percent of Dreamers report that "I Have a Dream" has helped them stay out of trouble.
> 40 children are connected to a personal adult mentor.
> 90 percent of Dreamer parents reported that "I Have a Dream" has helped their child get along better with the family.
> 92 percent of Dreamers who responded to a recent survey reported that "I Have a Dream" helps them feel good about themselves.
