Link to a pdf file of our class timeline 1990 - BOULDER CLASS - Sponsored by Diane & Bob Greenlee Our first group of 36 third through fifth grade Dreamers were adopted from the San Juan del Centro housing site. We doubled the expected high-school graduation rate, and 86% of the graduates went on to college or vocational school. 1992 - LAFAYETTE CLASS - Sponsored by Dianne Ladd & Bruce Holland and Edie Ortega The first Lafayette Class of 79 Dreamers was selected in 4th grade via the free and reduced lunch program in three elementary schools—Lafayette, Pioneer and Ryan. In 2000, 91% of the Dreamers graduated, and 87% of those graduates have gone on to pursue higher education. 1996 - BOULDER—KALMIA CLASS - Sponsored by Midge Korczak This class was our first collaboration with Boulder Housing Partners and the University of Colorado. 31 Dreamers were adopted when they were third through fifth graders from three low-income public housing sites (Kalmia, Iris Hawthorne and the Diagonal.) Ninety percent of these Dreamers graduated in 2007! 1999 - BOULDER—BROADWAY CLASS - Sponsored by Linda Shoemaker & Steve Brett Along with a Department of Education GEAR UP grant, this class is a collaboration with Boulder Housing Partners, CU, and the Boulder Valley School District. These 41 Dreamers, were adopted as 3rd—7th graders residing in three low-income public housing sites (Broadway, Kalmia and Iris Hawthorne.) Ninety percent of these Dreamers graduated in 2009! 2000 - LONGMONT—CASA CLASS - Sponsored by Debra Lane & Steve Szabo In partnership with Boulder County Housing Authority and the St. Vrain Valley School District, this class serves 53 children, now 8th grade through college, from the Casa de la Esperanza low-income housing site in Longmont. 2000 - LAFAYETTE—PIONEER CLASS – Sponsored by Brenda and Paul Lilly (The Lilly Foundation) In collaboration with Boulder Valley School District, 45 Dreamers were adopted from Pioneer Elementary School, a dual language school in the second grade. These Dreamers are now 12th graders at Centaurus High School. 2001 - LAFAYETTE—SANCHEZ CLASS Sponsored by Dee & Tom Perry and Wilma & Mike Ormsbee Another school-based program in collaboration with Boulder Valley School District, this program selected 53 low-income second graders at Sanchez Elementary School in Lafayette. This year the Dreamers are in the 11th grade at Centaurus High School. 2002 - LONGMONT—COLUMBINE CLASS - Sponsored by Catherine and Jim Ray This St. Vrain Valley School District class of 50 low-income students was in second grade at Columbine Elementary School when they were adopted. They are now in 11th grade and attend Skyline High School in Longmont. 2008 - BOULDER—IRIS CLASS – Sponsored by Peter, Dina & Gail Aweida; Randy Bailey & Donna Werner; Nancy & Al Boggess; Steve Brett & Linda Shoemaker; Ayal & Jennifer Korczak; Kevin & Robin Luff; Lynn Morgan; Rajul & Amy Pandya/Wiener Family Futures Foundation; Kristen & Ariel Solomon (Dakota Memorial Fund); and Judy and Jim Warner. Scholarship contributors: Anthony Carter, Delta Kappa Gamma, Foothills United Way Foundation, and two Anonymous Donors. This class of 50 Dreamers (3rd through 6th graders) was adopted in the fall of 2008 from the Broadway East low-income housing site. Thanks to a partnership with the Boulder Housing Partners, a new community center was built to accommodate this Dreamer class who are now 5th through 8th graders at Columbine and Foothill Elementary School and Casey Middle School. 2010 - BOULDER-PHOENIX CLASS- |
