The “I Have a Dream” Foundation of Boulder County believes in building strong partnerships with community members in order to achieve our mission so that each child in Boulder County can reach their education and career goals and become productive citizens. We appreciate those who are dedicated to this shared mission and recognize the valuable contribution of those who volunteer with our organization.

Term and Responsibilities

Board members serve for a term of three years and are able to serve for three consecutive terms. Each board member serves on at least one board committee. Full descriptions outlining board member and committee responsibilities are below. If you are interested in becoming a board member or joining a committee, please fill out a volunteer application online.

Meetings

Our Board of Directors typically meets on the second Wednesday of every month (except in July and December) at the "I Have a Dream" Central Office from 11:30-1:00 pm. We welcome participation from community members who are interested in learning more about our organization. Please contact our office to confirm our meeting schedule.

Kristen Solomon rejoined the Board of Directors in 2010 after serving from 2003-2005. Kristen and her husband Ariel became involved in “I Have a Dream” after they lost their oldest son, Dakota in 2001. Ariel and Kristen established the Dakota Solomon Memorial Endowment Fund which provides a scholarship each year to a student at the University of Colorado Boulder. Serving as a tutor, Kristen has been fortunate to see firsthand the value the program provides to Dreamers. An avid athlete, Kristen enjoys biking, swimming and running in addition to her career as a local Realtor. Growing up in Boulder, Kristen attended Fairview High School and continues to enjoy the outdoors and all Colorado has to offer with her husband Ariel and two other children, Sophia and Ryder.

With more than 30 years of shopping center sales and leasing experience, Allen Ginsborg is one of the Rocky Mountain region's leading experts on the retail operations that are the backbone of America's consumer economy.



Ginsborg has completed more than 1,000 shopping center leases with a total value in excess of $1 billion, some 50 shopping center sales and more than 100 land transactions. The division of NewMark Merrill that he co-founded in 2007 owns or operates two million square feet of property along Colorado's Front Range.



Prior to joining NewMark Merrill Companies, Ginsborg was owner of Pacific Retail Partners, a leading California retail landlord and tenant representation firm that he co-founded with Joe Meyer in 1993. Under his leadership, the company developed or leased more than 15 million feet of shopping center space in California and Colorado. From 1993 to 2003, he represented The Home Depot in its Colorado expansion, assisting the company with the establishment of more than 30 new locations. He also ran the national retail development group for Catellus Development, the largest private landowner in California. In 2006, he leased and co-developed a 500,000-square-foot, Target-anchored power center for McWhinney Enterprises in the Centerrra master-planned community in Loveland. From 1983 to 1993, Ginsborg worked for CBRE, where he specialized in anchor tenant representation and leasing, and selling major shopping centers ranging in size from 150,000 to 450,000 square feet. He was twice ranked 13th and 35th nationally among 2,700 CBRE brokers. He ranked among the top 10 retail specialists nationally at CBRE three times, including the No.1 ranking in 1989. Ginsborg is a frequent speaker at the Everitt Real Estate Center at Colorado State University, where he currently serves on the board. In 2012, Allen was selected CSU's Real Estate Entrepreneur of the Year. Ginsborg also holds board positions with the I Have A Dream Foundation of Boulder County and the Long's Peak Boy Scouts of America Council, where he serves as board president.

Jane McConnell is a community volunteer, freelance writer and mother of four. She currently serves on the board of Intercambio Uniting Communities and I Have a Dream. Since 2006, Jane has served on The Community Foundation board, as Chair of the Board, co-chair of the School Readiness committee, and founding co-chair of the Ambassador's Council. Prior to serving on the TCF board, she served as the Emergency Family Assistance Association's (EFAA) Board President, chairing EFAA's capital campaign. Jane co-authored the book Natural Family Living, was Publisher and Editor of "Women's Sports & Fitness Magazine" from 1990-1996, and was Editor-in-Chief of "City Sports Magazine" from 1986-1990. She holds a Bachelor of Arts in English Literature from Stanford University.

OBrien

Patrick O’Brien, Past Chair

Pat O'Brien is a graduate of the University of Western Michigan University, with a bachelor’s degree in Marketing and Finance (Double Major), as well as holder of a Master of Science degree in Finance from the University of Colorado. He began his banking career in 1983 as a Credit Analyst at Fidelity Bank of Denver and then worked for a ten year period with Colorado National Bank in Boulder. There he moved up to Vice President/Loan Manager responsible for Commercial Lending for his last five years at the bank. In 1995, Pat joined Wells Fargo Bank in Boulder. He began there as a Team Leader overseeing seven team members. Additionally, he was responsible for the Credit Department for the bank. He was promoted to Senior Vice President - Business Banking Manager in 2000, and managed a team of 26 team members. Pat was also responsible for the administration of commercial loans with commitments of $500 million and commercial deposits amounting to $650 million. He grew the commercial loan portfolio from $90 to $500 million.

In 2007, Pat took on the additional role of Community Bank President with responsibilities for retail and business banking in Boulder, Broomfield and Longmont. In 2008, Pat was promoted to Business Area Manager for Northern Colorado, which increased his territory to include Fort Collins, Greeley, Fort Morgan and Sterling. He left Wells Fargo in 2009 and started at Guaranty Bank and Trust in Boulder. Pat is committed to community involvement and has held positions of Chair of the Boulder Chamber of Commerce, President of the Boulder Area Buff Club, Chair of the Boulder Economic Council and Chair of the YMCA of Boulder Valley. He currently serves on the Board of Directors of I Have a Dream (incoming chair), Longs Peak Boy Scout Council, and the Boulder Chamber.

In 2012, Pat was appointed by Governor Hickenlooper to service on a statewide Small Business Council. In the academic community, Pat has been a Faculty member and instructor at the University of Colorado Graduate School of Banking and a Classroom Instructor at the American Institute of Banking/Center for Financial Training. In 1987, Pat was the sole recipient of the Academic Achievement Award from the Graduate School of Banking and, in 1992, won the Financial Services Advocate of the Year Award for the Small Business Administration. Pat lectures on a national scale for the American Rental Association about community banking and small business lending.

Pat and his wife, Michelle, are residents in the City of Boulder and they have two daughters, Carolyn and Melinda. He is an avid hockey fan and currently plays hockey two evenings per week.

Berry

Dennis Berry 
Community Volunteer
2nd Term, 2016-2019

Dennis Berry was involved in education for most of his career. He holds a BS in Electrical Engineering from the University of Michigan, and an MBA in Management Science from the University of Colorado. The major part of his career was in administrative positions at the University of Colorado, primarily in administrative IT. He also worked for the state to implement a website currently called CollegeInColorado.org, which helps students learn about colleges, careers, financial aid, and a variety of other topics in education. With an interest in closing the achievement gap in Colorado, he is currently involved with preschools in our community, so involvement with the I Have a Dream Foundation is a natural extension for achieving the achievement gap problem. Dennis and his wife Libby are mentors for a Dreamer. His son and his wife live in Ft. Collins. Dennis continues to be involved in local non-profits, from CU fundraising to local history.

Bond

Bob Bond is a partner in the audit service area of EKS&H and has been involved in public accounting since 1996, serving both public and private companies. He has expertise in a variety of industries including consumer products, software and construction. He also has experience with significant technical accounting issues, mergers and acquisitions, international accounting and due diligence. His professional affiliations include membership in the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the Colorado Society of Certified Public Accountants. His specialization is consumer products professional services multi-national companies. Bob has his BS in Accounting from Colorado State University.

 Christina Clark

Christina Clark has been an insurance agent with New York Life since 2010. As a mother of two great boys, she says she became involved with "I Have a Dream" to take a stand for educating people. Her desire is to empower youth to create and invent their future by sharing her love of learning, determination, resilience, and commitment with the Boulder County and "I Have a Dream" community.

Gaudio

Eva Gaudio

Eva Gaudio currently serves as SVP Governmental and Student Affairs at Elevations CU, Boulder, Colorado, and was president and CEO of St. Vrain Valley CU located in Longmont, Colorado from July 1993 to September 2011. Prior to the October 2011 merger of St. Vrain and Elevations credit unions, under Gaudio’s leadership, St. Vrain received numerous awards for financial literacy and community involvement programs. Gaudio currently serves on the board of directors for the Education Foundation for the St. Vrain Valley and the Schools/Business Partnership Team. Past involvement includes serving as: chair of the Education Credit Union Council and of the Government Affairs Committee for Colorado credit unions; secretary for the Credit Union Association of Colorado; vice-chair on the board of directors of the Rocky Mountain Council of the Credit Union Executives Society (CUES); and Colorado trustee for the Credit Union National Association’s PAC. In 2006, Gaudio received the Credit Union Professional Hall of Fame Achievement Award for her dedication and service to the credit union movement in Colorado.

Gabriel Granillo
Boulder County

Gabriel Granillo has been a Juvenile Services Professional for Boulder County for the last few years. This position works with youth who enter the legal system after they become incarcerated. Gabriel was born and raised in Boulder, Colorado and received a BA in Sociology from the University of Colorado at Boulder in 2011. He is passionate about working with teens and families and is actually a Dreamer Graduate from the Broadway Class, which began in 1999. He has interned with the "I Have a Dream" Foundation in the past and has volunteered his time tutoring Dreamers as well. He is currently a member of the Boulder Leadership Fellows Program and is excited about establishing relationships with individuals working in the business sector. Since a young age, Gabriel has been inclined towards community programs and civic engagement projects. He has been deeply influenced by local church initiatives, his own family and community members alike to assist those in need and individuals who are less fortunate, particularly low income and ethnically diverse communities. Gabriel loves spending time with his family and enjoys being a new parent to his daughter, Izabella.

Michael Greenwood is the co-owner of Greenwood & Myers Mortuary. He has an MBA from the American Graduate School of International Management (Thunderbird) and a BA from the Loyola University of Chicago. He has been in the funeral business for 25 years, previously with Crist since 1996 before recently opened his own mortuary, Greenwood & Myers.

Chris Gunlikson

With a background in both construction and accounting, Christopher Gunlikson, a partner at Holland & Hart, assists clients with the acquisition and rehabilitation of Section 8 contract properties and with clients who are financing real estate transactions using tax-exempt private activity bonds and FHA/HUD insured loan programs. His transactional practice emphasizes commercial real estate, corporate and tax matters, and banking and finance, including real estate acquisition, sales, construction, development, financing, lending, commercial leasing, affordable housing development and low income housing tax credit financing and syndication. His practice also includes extensive work in entity formation, partnership law, tax planning, contracts, technology agreements and business sale and acquisition transactions. Prior to law school, Mr. Gunlikson worked as a CFO for a developer and construction company. He is also a Certified Public Accountant.
Lori

Lori Jones

As a marketing integration guru, Lori Jones has knowledge and experience in all aspects of branding, marketing, advertising, PR, digital and social programs. Where Jones truly shines, however, is her ability to bring each of those areas together. She participates in strategy development and big picture program planning with her team at Avocet Communications to bring a real-world vision that increases customer count for some of the nation's leading brands. She is a co-author of Secrets of Ad-Agency Owners: Our Best Marketing Advice and Secrets of Ad-Agency Owners: The Biggest Mistake I've Ever Seen. Jones publishes the Integrate & Ignite Blog and Podcast which focuses on integrating marketing, leadership, and entrepreneurialism.

Jackie Kapushion
St. Vrain Valley School District
1st Term, 2016-2019

Jackie Kapushion is currently an Area Assistant Superintendent in St. Vrain Valley School District after serving 14 years in Adams County School District 1--as the Deputy Superintendent for two years, Assistant Superintendent of Learning Services for eight years, and Director of Professional Development for four years.  Previously, she spent five years as an elementary principal in Adams County School District 50, and several years as an elementary teacher. Jackie is currently enrolled as a doctoral student at the University of Colorado at Denver working to earn an Ed D in Leadership and Equity. She holds a BA degree in Elementary Education from the University of Wyoming and an MA degree in Administration, Supervision and Curriculum Development from the University of Colorado at Denver. She is a member of the Carbon Valley Rotary, and serves on the Longmont Chamber Board and A Woman’s Work Board in Longmont. Jackie and Tony Kapushion have been married for 25 years and live in Erie with their three children.    

Mills

Jack Mills

Jack Mills holds both a bachelor's degree in accounting and a law degree from the University of Oklahoma. After serving two years in the U.S. Army performing intelligence operations, Jack was hired as an assistant athletic director by the University of Colorado. After a year at C.U., he entered the private practice of law and has specialized in sports law for more than 40 years. His practice primarily emphasizes football, but he has also represented clients in hockey, basketball, baseball, golf, skiing, and wrestling. He is a member of the American, California, and Colorado Bar associations. He is a Director and past President of the Sports Lawyers Association and serves on the Agents Advisory Committee to the NFL Players Association. In addition to Jack's legal practice, he teaches a course in Sports Law at the University of Colorado School of Law and is on the Board of Directors for the Fellowship of Christian Athletes in Colorado. In 1993, the National Sports Law Institute presented Jack with the Joseph E. O'Neill award, in recognition of his significant contribution to the development of sports law, ethics, and integrity. He resides in Boulder, Colorado, with his wife, Cirrelda. They have three children and seven grandchildren.

Marilyn Lozano Monnette

Marilyn Lozano Monnette is originally from the San Francisco Bay Area where she obtained her bachelor’s of arts degree in industrial psychology at San Jose State.
She applied that learning in developing an extensive human resource career in the high tech industry in Silicon Valley until she made her way to Boulder in 1994. She enjoyed a 17 year career as a Human Resources Business Partner with the biotechnology company, Amgen Inc. Previously she has volunteered her time to local organizations such as the American Cancer Society’s Relay for Life, Habitat for Humanity, Adopt a Road, Boulder Homeless Shelter, Our House and community science fairs. In addition she has participated in funding raising events for Toys for Tots, CU Science Program, Crayons for Calculators, Voices for Children, Hospice of Boulder County, Attention Homes and the Emergency Family Assistance Association (EFAA). Marilyn and her husband Chris reside in Lafayette. They enjoy running, tennis and skiing.

 

Danica Powell

Danica Powell is a 13-year resident of Boulder and a founding partner in Trestle Strategy Group, a boutique real estate planning and consulting firm specializing in urban planning, entitlement, owner's representation and project management.   Danica provides custom, strategic, and collaborative consulting and management services for both non-profit and for profit partners.  When not working, she loves to spend time outdoors, biking at Valmont Bike Park with her kids, hiking in the open space, or enjoying the sunshine on a restaurant rooftop deck.   As a mother of two young kids, Danica is especially interested in building community diversity, creating opportunities for families and children, and building relationships across Boulder County. Danica is an active member in the community serving on the Board of Directors for the I Have a Dream Foundation of Boulder County, the ULI Women's Leadership Initiative Steering Committee, Boulder Urban Renewal Authority, and the Shining Mountain Waldorf School Board of Trustees.  She recently served a 3-year term with the City of Boulder Planning Board.   Her degree is in Sustainable Urban Systems from The University of California at Berkeley.

John Ricotta

John Ricotta currently holds the position of Vice President with FirstBank in Boulder.  John is a Colorado native, born and raised in Wheat Ridge, Colorado.  He attended Colorado State University where he graduated with a BS in Business Management and a Minor in Spanish.  Upon graduation, John accepted a position with FirstBank.  He has held numerous positions within the organization and he currently manages one bank location in Boulder.  In his current role he provides a wide array of banking services and he specializes in both consumer and commercial real estate lending.  John enjoys being involved with his community.  In addition to joining the "I Have a Dream" Board of Directors, John also serves on the Board of Directors for Intercambio Uniting Communities and currently lives in Lafayette.

Sandy Ripplinger

Sandy Ripplinger serves as the Assistant Superintendent for Elementary Schools and Early Childhood with the Boulder Valley School District. She is responsible for the supervision and leadership of the district's elementary schools and principals. She also supervises and provides leadership to the Director of Early Childhood Education. She is a Colorado Board of Education appointed member of the State Advisory Council for Parent Engagement in Education and has been an officer of Phi Delta Kappa, a national educational organization in partnership with the University of Colorado-Boulder, for over 15 years. Sandy began her tenure as an administrator in Boulder Valley in 1993, serving as a principal at two schools, Nederland Elementary School and Eldorado K-8 for a total of 10 years. She was the founding principal of Eldorado K-8 School and recently completed her 10th year as the Assistant Superintendent. In addition to Ms. Ripplinger's expertise in pre-K-5 education, she is known for her leadership in adult learning practices, which have earned her a reputation as a "trainer of trainers" in facilitation skills. Education: Executive Leadership Program, University of Colorado; M.A. University of Colorado Denver; B.A., University of Wisconsin, Stevens Point.

Dan Robinson

Dan D. Robinson is chief executive officer of Longs Peak Hospital (LPH) in Longmont. Prior to accepting the position as CEO for LPH, Dan served as the CEO of Colorado Health Medical Group, the multi-specialty medical team that serves University of Colorado Health’s clinics in northern and southern Colorado and southeastern Wyoming. As CEO, Dan Robinson oversaw the administrative, clinical, and strategic operations for more than 400 health care providers and approximately 1,200 support staff in 80 clinics and outreach locations in western Nebraska, southeastern Wyoming and along the Colorado Front Range corridor. Previous to this, Dan Robinson was Chief Operating Officer for Poudre Valley Hospital (PVH) in Fort Collins. As VP, Mr. Robinson helped lead PVH to becoming a six-time Thomson Reuters Top 100 Hospital and a three-time Magnet designee.

Prior to joining PVH, he worked for Exempla Lutheran Medical Center in Wheat Ridge, where he served as vice president of operations and administrator of West Pines Behavioral Health Hospital. He also was vice president of operations for Birner Dental Management Services in Denver, was a consultant for HCIA/LBA Healthcare Management in Denver, and worked for the HEALTHONE hospital system in Denver. Dan Robinson is a Fellow of the American College of Healthcare Executives, American College of Cancer Executives, and Larimer County Mental Health Steering Committee, as well as a board member of the Touchstone Healthcare. He holds a master's degree in education from the University of Toledo, Ohio, and a bachelor's degree from Augustana College, Ill. He lives in Fort Collins with his wife Kim. They have three grown sons, Kyle, Corey, and Casey.

Charity Sevian is the Founder and Managing Director of Berry Strategy, a marketing consultancy that specializes in research and strategic planning. Berry has partnered with Dignity Health, Annie's Homegrown, Kaiser Permanente, Aspen, Kashi Company, as well as local clients Gaiam, Door to Door Organics, and Jackson's Honest to craft brands to drive steep, measurable growth. Before founding Berry, Charity was a Director of Strategy at Boulder-based Egg Strategy. Charity graduated from the University of Colorado with a degree in Journalism and Mass Communications. She lives in Boulder with her family and lives up to nearly every stereotype associated with the location, including spending her "spare" time enjoying the mountain sunshine, running, skiing, cycling and hiking.

Dene Yarwood is proud to be serving the Boulder County area as a Realtor with Wright Kingdom Real Estate. The scheduling freedom this position affords allows time for her passion of helping in her community. Dene's recent dedication has been to A Woman's Work of St. Vrain Valley. She's now most excited about helping shape the future of Dreamers through Board participation as well as tutoring. Dene grew up in Montana and feels Colorado is much the same just in a bigger sense. She and her firefighter husband Dave love all things mountain and outdoors.
