The 5th Annual Award Luncheon honored Daily
Camera Publisher and Editor Colleen Conant with the Dream-Maker Award
for her dedication to
community service in Boulder County. The Daily Camera has been a loyal
friend of the "I Have A Dream" ® Foundation for many years
providing ad space for volunteer solicitations and fundraising events,
equipping our six Learning Centers with curriculum through their "Newspapers
in Education" program, and donating newspaper subscriptions to
IHAD families. Colleen has held her current position with the Daily Camera
since April, 1998. She is active in the community and serves on the board
of directors of several organizations including the Community Foundation,
the Foundation for Boulder Valley Schools, and the Boulder Chamber of
Commerce. Colleen and her husband Terry have two sons.
The event also included welcoming remarks from CU
President Betsy Hoffman, and the awarding of the first annual "Dakota
Solomon Memorial Scholarship" to Lafayette Dreamer Heidi Whitley.
CU football standout Marcus
Houston presented the award to Heidi. This new scholarship is the
result of a major contribution to our Endowment Fund made by Kristen and
Ariel Solomon in honor of their young son Dakota who died recently in
a highway accident.
